Fundraising

There are many  ways to help the cause. One of these ways is by hosting a fundraiser. The World Toilet Organization offers a Fundraising in a Flush guide for those who wish to raise funds. Every penny raised makes a big difference to the work the WTO does on the ground. They offer five simple steps to success.

  1. PICK AN IDEA
Pick something you’re interested in or good at. Perhaps social events are more your thing, or maybe you love getting active. Maybe you have a knack for crafts or baking.

2. PLAN YOUR ACTIVITY
The better prepared you are, the smoother your activity will run, helping you raise more money for WTO. Think about how you are going to raise funds.

3. PROMOTE YOUR FUNDRAISER
Once the details are decided, it’s time to spread the word. Draw all of your family, friends, neighbors, workmates, and social contacts in. The more people you tell, the more people will participate, and the more donations you’ll be able to attract.

4. PAY IN YOUR MONEY
Once fundraising is over, it’s time to collect donations and send them to your organization.

5. PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK
All your hard work has paid off. Your work to raise money will do amazing things for people.

Auction of promises: Can you offer a special skill or service? Why not auction it off for a day to the highest bidder ie haircuts, dog walking, personal training.

Cycling or Run: Host a bike ride or 5k run/walk in your community. Have people pay to participate.

Volleyball Tournament- Host a intramural volleyball tournament. Have each team pay to play.

Quiz Night/Trivia Night: Hold a quiz night and get everyone working their brains.

Office Olympics: For you adults out there, see how sporty your colleagues are! Charge a fee for entering activities such as pencil javelin or chair racing.

Host a Winter Formal: Host a school dance. Whatever earnings made from the dance can go to the fundraiser.
